Project Title: Franjo Park Restoration Project
Amount Awarded: $200,000.00 Match Required: $200,000.00
The Florida Department of Environmental Protection's ("FDEP") Florida Recreation Development Assistance Program ("FRDAP") provides financial assistance for the acquisition and development of land for public outdoor recreation purposes.
On October 15, 2020, the Town of Cutler Bay (the "Town) submitted a grant application requesting funding at the maximum request allowed ($200,000), on behalf of the Parks and Recreation Department. On July 27, 2020, the FDEP informed the Town that its application was recommended as a priority applicantion and it was subsequently approved for funding by the Florida Legislature.
The FRDAP grant supports the Town's efforts to restore Franjo Park by partially funding the renovation of the baseball fields and restrooms. The grant requires a $200,000 match, budgeted in the Parks & Recreation Department's Fiscal Year 2020-21 adopted budget.
RECOMMENDATION
Town Staff recommends that the attached Resolution be adopted, accepting the FDEP grant for $200,000.00 for the Franjo Park Restoration Project, approving the subsequent agreement (Agreement #A1028), and authorizing the Town Manager to execute the grant...
