A RESOLUTION OF THE MAYOR AND TOWN COUNCIL OF THE TOWN OF CUTLER BAY, FLORIDA, ACCEPTING A GRANT FROM THE MIAMI-DADE COUNTY DEPARTMENT OF CULTURAL AFFAIRS FOR THE 2019 CUTLER BAY-WHISPERING PINES 4TH OF JULY CELEBRATION; PROVIDING FOR AUTHORIZATION; AND PROVIDING FOR AN EFFECTIVE DATE.

BACKGROUND
On March 25, 2019, the Town of Cutler Bay (the "Town") submitted a Community Grants Program application to the Miami-Dade County Department of Cultural Affairs (the "Department"), to support the 2019 Cutler Bay-Whispering Pines 4th of July Celebration. Funded by Miami-Dade County, the Community Grants Program provides funding on a quarterly basis to not-for-profit organizations developing small and large-scale community-based cultural (dance, theater, music, visual arts) programs, as well as projects and events, such as fairs, parades, neighborhood festivals, conferences and publications that have a strong artistic component.
The 2019 Cutler Bay-Whispering Pines 4th of July Celebration was held on July 4, 2019 and featured a patriotic parade followed by a community festival, which included artistic demonstrations and various entertainment for festival attendees. The Miami-Dade County Board of County Commissioners approved the Department's recommendation to award the Town $5,000.00 on July 10, 2019, and the Town received notification that the Grant Agreement is ready for signature on August 21, 2019.
RECOMMENDATION
Staff recommends that the attached Resolution be adopted, accepting the grant from Miami-Dade County Department of Cultural Affairs Community Grants Program for $5,000.00, approving the Grant Agreement, and authorizing the Town Manager to execute the Grant Agreement.
