Mark Parets, Reappointing at Large Member and Appointing New Member

A resolution of the mayor and town council of the town of cutler bay, florida, amending resolution 06-97 by retirING THE AT LARGE SEAT ON THE PARKS AND RECREATION ADVISORY committee; decreasing the number of committee members FROM ELEVEN (11) to ten (10);  REappointing the former at large MEMBER; APPOINTING A member TO the COMMITTEE; and providing for an effective date.

BACKGROUND AND ANALYSIS

 

At the May 15, 2019 Town Council Meeting, Council Member Callahan made a motion amending Resolution No. 06-97 retiring the at large seat in honor of Mark Parets, moving the person serving in the at large position to become the Mayor’s appointment and leaving ten members on the Parks and Recreation Advisory Committee (the “Committee”).  The motion was adopted unanimously by the Town Council.  As a result, the at large member, David Biegen will now be reappointed to the Committee by Mayor Meerbott. 

 

In addition, there is a vacancy on the Committee due to the resignation of Roberto Torres.  Roberto Torres was appointed by Vice Mayor Loyzelle.  The vacancy was advertised in accordance with Section 2-269 of the Town’s Code of Ordinances and the resumes provided to the Vice Mayor.  Vice Mayor Loyzelle has selected Suzy Lord to be appointed to the Committee.

 

 

 

 

 

RECOMMENDATION

 

It is recommended that the Town Council adopt the Resolution which affirms the vote of the Town Council on May 15, 2019 retiring the seat of Mark Parets, reappointing Mr. Biegen to be Mayor Meerbott’s appointment to the Committee and appointing a new member to fill the vacancy created by the
