The board's Million Trees Miami campaign has a goal of 1 million trees planted by 2020 and a 30 percent tree canopy throughout Miami-Dade County. In order to reach this goal, Street Trees Matching Grant Program (the "Program"), funded by Miami-Dade County, engages municipalities, non-profits and community organizations in planting native or Florida-friendly trees on Miami-Dade's corridors and gateways.

On January 31, 2019, the Town submitted a grant application requesting funding on behalf of the Public Works Department. The Program awarded the Town a $7,462.50 matching grant ("Grant") to plant approximately thirty-three (33) Florida Native shade trees in Town parks and on public right-of-way of various local roads throughout the Town. These trees will replace those lost during Hurricane Irma. The required matching funds will come from the Public Works Department's 2018-2019 budget.
