REQUESTT
A RESOLUTION OF THE MAYOR AND TOWN COUNCIL OF THE TOWN OF CUTLER BAY, FLORIDA, AUTHORIZING THE TOWN MANAGER TO SUBMIT AN APPLICATION FOR THE FLORIDA DIVISION OF EMERGENCY MANAGEMENT'S HAZARD MITIGATION GRANT PROGRAM; AND PROVIDING FOR AN EFFECTIVE DATE.

Program Title: Hazard Mitigation Grant Program - Hurricane Irma
Grant Request: $150,000.00 Town Match: $50,000.00 (cash and in-kind)
The Florida Division of Emergency Management released a request for proposals for the Hazard Mitigation Grant Program (the "Grant") because of the presidential Disaster Declaration for Hurricane Irma (FEMA 4337-DR-FL). This funding helps communities implement measures to reduce or eliminate long-term risk to people and property from natural hazards and their effects.
The Town is required to work collaboratively with the Miami-Dade County Emergency Management Department to submit potential mitigation projects for inclusion in the County's Local Mitigation Strategy. The Town's project for the hardening of the Town Hall Building ranked 18 out 130 projects countywide. In August 2018, the Town submitted Town Hall Emergency Operation Center Envelope Hardening Project to the Florida Division of Emergency Management for funding consideration.
The grant application is currently in the final stages of review by the State, and the Town was requested to submit a Resolution authorizing the Town Manager to take all necessary steps to apply for and receive grant funding if awarded.
