The Edward Byrne Memorial Justice Assistance Grant (JAG) Program (42 U.S.C. 3751(a)) is the primary provider of federal criminal justice funding to State and Local jurisdictions. The JAG Program provides states and units of local governments with critical funding necessary to support a range of program areas including law enforcement, prosecution and court programs, prevention and education programs, corrections and community corrections, drug treatment and enforcement, crime victim and witness initiatives, and planning, evaluation, and technology improvement programs.
On November 19, 2018, the Town submitted a grant application requesting funding on behalf of the Cutler Bay Policing Unit. The Florida Department of Law Enforcement (FDLE) has allocated $4,939.00 for the Town of Cutler Bay for law enforcement services to implement the Cutler Bay Youth Safety Program.
The Cutler Bay Youth Safety Program will allow officers to continue outreach efforts in three primary focus areas.
(1) Educational Presentations on Bully Prevention and Safety
(2) Outreach campaigns to reduce loss of property. For example, bicycle locks will be purchased and distributed during bike safety events.
