BACKGROUND AND ANALYSIS
In 2009, the Town of Cutler Bay (the “Town”) received ‘Silver’ certification from the Florida Green Building Coalition (FGBC) for implementing over 40 green practices designed to reduce energy consumption and conserve local resources. In 2016, the Town earned the FGBC ‘Silver’ recertification. Iler Planning, Inc. (the “Consultant”) was retained by the Town to develop a Green Master Plan (the “Master Plan”), which would assist the Town in achieving ‘Gold’ level certification. On February 13, 2017, Town Staff and the Consultant held a Public Involvement Visioning Session for Town residents to provide input and feedback (Attachment “A”). Subsequently, the Consultant submitted the proposed Master Plan to the Town for its consideration.
The Town proposes to adopt the Master Plan, which discusses the Town’s existing green policies and activities, addresses the future implementation of current green initiatives, and recommends activities to take the Town to the next level of sustainability.
RECOMMENDATION
It is recommended that the Mayor and Town Council adopt the attached Resolution adopting the Master Plan.
