BACKGROUND AND ANALYSIS

During the 2016 State Legislative Session, Town staff and our Lobbyist worked closely to prepare a Community Budget Issue Request (Attachment "A") for $165,250.00 to support the Saga Bay 1.2 Sub-Basin Water Quality Improvement Project. The Town Council's full support of this project included; but was not limited to, traveling to Tallahassee to advocate on the Town's behalf to secure this funding. The Town successfully secured $165,000.00 for this project.

PROJECT OVERVIEW

The Stormwater Project is located north of SW 198 Terrace, south of SW 196 Street, east of SW 81 Court and west of SW 78 Avenue, and is identified as a "high" priority as per the Town's adopted Stormwater Master Plan. The Town intends to address a history of extensive flooding, repetitive property loss and resident complaints by upgrading the existing infrastructure in the Saga Bay 1.2 Sub-Basin. While subject to final engineering design, the proposed project consists of installing new manholes, drainage pipes, and French drains, as well as replacing catch basins and constructing a headwall in the existing lake outfall.
