body.
BACKGROUND AND ANALYSIS
Ernest “Ernie” Sochin has lived in Cutler Bay, with his wife Rhoda, since 1968 and has two (2) children and three (3) grandchildren who routinely attend Town sponsored events. Ernie Sochin became involved with the Town in November 2005, when he provided a Notice of Candidacy for office of Council Member. He then became a member of the Inaugural Town Council in January 2006, when he was elected to Council Member, Seat 2, in a runoff election.
In December 2010, Ernie Sochin was appointed to Vice Mayor to fill the vacancy, until he was elected in June 2011 in a Special Election. Ernie Sochin served as Vice Mayor until his retirement in November 2016, serving the Town for eleven (11) years.
Ernie Sochin’s service goes beyond his public offices, as he is actively involved in Town events, and is a writer for the local Community Newspaper. Being an active bicyclist and tennis player at Saga Bay Park, also makes him well known and beloved by Town residents and neighbors.
