A RESOLUTION OF THE MAYOR AND TOWN COUNCIL OF THE TOWN OF CUTLER BAY, FLORIDA, SUPPORTING THE CITY OF HOMESTEAD’S RESOLUTION URGING MIAMI-DADE COUNTY TO MOVE FORWARD WITH THE RELOCATION OF THE DADE COUNTY YOUTH FAIR TO SOUTH DADE; PROVIDING FOR TRANSMITTAL; AND PROVIDING FOR AN EFFECTIVE DATE.

BACKGROUND AND ANALYSIS
In December of 2015, the City of Homestead unanimously passed Resolution R2015-12-130, urging the leaders of Miami-Dade County to move forward with the relocation of the Dade County Youth Fair and Exposition to a location in South Dade (Attachment “A”). The Resolution called on other municipalities in South Dade to join in supporting this effort.
This movement has received endorsements from Congressional and State Legislative Representatives (Attachment “B”), and should receive support from local leaders as well. Relocating the Youth Fair will be a stimulus for responsible growth in South Dade, recognizing the agricultural importance of this region. It will help renew the original goals of the Youth Fair established in 1952. Finally, it will be yet another justification for improving infrastructure in South Dade, most notably an effective and efficient transportation system.
RECOMMENDATION
It is recommended that the attached Resolution be adopted to support the City of Homestead's Resolution R2015-12-130, and to urge neighboring communities in South Dade to do the same.
