BACKGROUND AND ANALYSIS
The Town of Cutler Bay Town Council seats of Mayor, Seat 1 and Seat 3 will expire in November, 2018. In order to establish a qualifying period for the municipal general election to be held on November 6, 2018 and to accommodate the requirements set forth by Miami-Dade County Supervisor of Elections office, it is proposed that the qualifying period be established to begin 12 p.m. (noon) on July 27, 2018 and end on
August 10, 2018 at 12 p.m. (noon).
RECOMMENDATION
Historically, the Town of Cutler Bay Town Council has set the period for qualifying candidates for election as the longest possible period of time, in accordance with the time line provided by the Miami-Dade Supervisor of Elections. It is, therefore, recommended that the Town Council adopt the ordinance establishing the official period for qualifying candidates for office for the seats of Mayor, Seat 1 and Seat 3 as 12 p.m. (noon) on
July 27, 2018 through 12 p.m. (noon) on August 10, 2018.
