body.

BACKGROUND AND ANALYSIS

The Town Council via Ordinance 17-01 established the qualifying period for and set the General Election date as November 6, 2018.  Via Resolution 18-50, the Town Council also called for a Special Election on the same date providing for four charter amendment referenda.

At the end of the qualifying period, there were three (3) candidates for the office of Mayor, three (3) candidates for the office of Council Member Seat 3 and one (1) candidate for the office of Council Member Seat 1.  The candidate for office of Council Member Seat 1 was elected on November 6, 2018 as he ran unopposed.

In accordance with the Town Charter, a Runoff election was required for the office of Mayor and Council Member Seat 3 as no one candidate received more than 50% of the vote during the General Election.  The Runoff Election was held on November 20, 2018.

The certification and results of the November 6, 2018 General Election and Special Election are included as Exhibit "A" and the certification and results of the November 20, 2018 Runoff Election are included as Exhibit "B".

RECOMMENDATION

It is recommended that the Town Council declare that the official results are hereby certified.
