Town-wide Decorative Bus Shelter(s) Project

RESOLUTION OF THE MAYOR AND TOWN COUNCIL OF THE TOWN OF CUTLER BAY, FLORIDA, AUTHORIZING THE TOWN MANAGER TO ISSUE A PURCHASE ORDER TO STANTEC CONSULTING SERVICES, INC. TO PROVIDE DESIGN SERVICES FOR NEW BUS SHELTERS AT VARIOUS LOCATIONS THROUGHOUT THE TOWN; AND PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE.

BACKGROUND AND ANALYSIS

The Town is interested in adopting a Town-wide Bus Shelter replacement project, consisting of the replacement of the existing aluminum bus shelters with advertisement display panels, originally installed and owned by the Miami-Dade Transit (MDT). MDT transferred the ownership of all bus benches and shelters in 2012, at which point the Town took ownership. The vision of our residents expressed in both the adopted strategic master plan and transportation master plan was to provide new decorative bus shelters that shall have unique architectural features that provides a historic character and image similar to the bus shelters installed along both Old Cutler Road and Caribbean Boulevard Roadway Improvement Project.

The proposed design shall strive to beautify the Town's image by designing a total of eleven (11) new decorative bus shelter(s), four (4) of which are existing, and improving the bus shelter locations with new decorative architectural design exclusive to the Town. The new eleven (11) decorative bus shelter(s) will be placed at existing bus locations that currently don't have shelters.

The new decorative bus shelter(s) project will incorporate a bench, trash receptacle, and bike rack at each of the proposed locations.
