A RESOLUTION OF THE MAYOR AND TOWN COUNCIL OF THE TOWN OF CUTLER BAY, FLORIDA, EXTENDING THE ECONOMIC GROWTH COMMITTEE; PROVIDING FOR DISSOLUTION OF THE COMMITTEE; MAKING THE COMMITTEE SUBJECT TO THE TOWN’S ADVISORY BOARD ORDINANCE; AND PROVIDING FOR AN EFFECTIVE DATE.

body.

BACKGROUND AND ANALYSIS

The Cutler Bay Economic Growth Committee has been meeting regularly since August 13, 2015 to promote, encourage and assist in the development and advancement of business prosperity and economic well-being of this community; to stimulate growth of new and existing businesses which will in turn maintain the economic stability of our community and provide employment possibilities in this area. The Committee also aims to retain and expand the quality and variety of retail, recreational, and human services to help diversify our local economy and respond to an ever-changing and vibrant community.

The Town adopted Resolution No. 16-17 on March 16, 2016 authorizing the extension of time to December 14, 2016 on which day the Committee will be delivering a final report to the Council. The Committee continues to make progress and does great work for the Town and will assist in the “South Dade: More to Explore” branding initiative to create a favorable business environment that allows for expansion and growth within our community. Therefore, it is recommended that the Economic Growth Committee remain in existence beyond December 14, 2016 to continue these efforts for the Town.

RECOMMENDATION

It is recommended that the Town Council adopt the attached Resolution accepting the Committee’s recommendation to continue advising the Town Council beyond December 14, 2016 and authorizing the Committee to remain in existence beyond that date.
