Re: Vacant properties located along Old Cutler Road

REQUESTTitle
A RESOLUTION OF THE MAYOR AND TOWN COUNCIL OF THE TOWN OF CUTLER BAY, FLORIDA, AUTHORIZING THE TOWN MANAGER TO RESEARCH THE STATUS OF UNDEVELOPED PROPERTIES ALONG OLD CUTLER ROAD AND TO MEET WITH SUCH PROPERTY OWNERS RELATED TO THE SAME; AND PROVIDING FOR AN EFFECTIVE DATE
Body
BACKGROUND AND ANALYSIS
Since incorporation, residents of the Town of Cutler Bay have approached the Town Council and staff regarding undeveloped properties along Old Cutler Road, in person, by email, and at Town Council meetings. Often, they have suggested alternative uses for those properties, sometimes in conflict with current designation on the future land use and zoning maps. In addition, many residents have expressed their concerns about the possible consequences of new development, including environmental and traffic impact.
Believing that our first duty is to recognize and represent the interests of the residents of Cutler Bay, I urge my fellow Council Members to pass this Resolution, asking the Town Manager and staff to research the status of currently undeveloped properties along Old Cutler Road between SW 184 Street and SW 216 Street. In doing so, they should consider current plans for development, possible alternatives to any proposed site plans, and the potential for acquisition by the town.
RECOMMENDATION
It is recommended that the Town Council support the attached Resolution, authorizing the Town Manager to research the status of undeveloped properties along Old Cutler Road and to meet with such property owners related to the same.
