A RESOLUTION OF THE MAYOR AND TOWN COUNCIL OF THE TOWN OF CUTLER BAY, FLORIDA, AUTHORIZING THE ISSUANCE OF A REQUEST FOR PROPOSAL (RFP) FOR PROFESSIONAL AUDITING SERVICES; AND PROVIDING FOR AN EFFECTIVE DATE.

BACKGROUND AND ANALYSIS
The Town of Cutler Bay (the “Town”) is required by state law to have an annual financial audit and to select a person or firm to perform said audit as provided in Section 218.391, Florida Statutes. The Town’s current external Auditing Firm, Alberni, Caballero & Company LLP was selected as a result of a previous Town Request for Proposal (“RFP”) process in 2007. While the current external Auditing Firm has provided exemplary service to the Town at a reasonable cost, Staff indicated to the Town Council during last year’s budget process that we would look at all Town contracts to make sure the Town is getting the best service and price from all of its vendors. Accordingly, Staff would like to issue an RFP for Professional Auditing Services at this time.
RECOMMENDATION
We recommend that the attached resolution authorizing the Town Manager to issue a Request for Proposal (RFP #14-03) be adopted.
