A RESOLUTION OF THE MAYOR AND TOWN COUNCIL OF THE TOWN OF CUTLER BAY, FLORIDA, RENAMING THE LAKES BY THE BAY LINEAR PARK, CONSISTING OF APPROXIMATELY 5.07 ACRES, TO "BLUE HERON PARK"; PROVIDING FOR AUTHORIZATION; AND PROVIDING FOR AN EFFECTIVE DATE.
Body
BACKGROUND AND ANALYSIS

On May 15, 2013, the Town Council via Town Resolution No. 13-31, accepted the conveyance of the Lakes by the Bay Linear Park (approximately 5.07 acres) from the Lakes by the Bay South Community Development District. Since that time, the Linear Park has been included in the Town's Park land inventory and maintained at the same level of service as other Town Parks.

The Parks & Recreation Advisory Committee discussed the possibility of renaming/identifying the Linear Park since residents may confuse the Linear Park with the Town's existing Lakes by the Bay Park (approximately 53 acres). As a result, the Parks & Recreation Advisory Committee recommended that the Town's Youth council Committee provide possible names to identify the Linear Park. The Youth Council Committee accepted the challenge and during one of their Committee meetings, visited the newly acquired Lakes by the Bay Linear Park.

Following their visit to the Linear Park, the Youth Council Committee subsequently discussed possible names and unanimously voted to recommend the name of "Blue Heron Park". In February 2015, during the regular Parks & Recreation Advisory Committee meeting, the Committee unanimously voted to adopt the recommended name forwarded from the Youth Council Committee: "Blue Heron Park". During the March 15, 2015 Town Council meeting, Mr. Michael Callahan, Chairperson of the Parks & Recreation Advisory Committee, addressed the Town Council and requested that the Lakes by the Bay Linear Park be renamed to Blue Heron Park (Attachment "A").

RECOMMENDATION
