A RESOLUTION OF THE MAYOR AND TOWN COUNCIL OF THE TOWN OF CUTLER BAY, FLORIDA TO APPOINT ADVISORY COMMITTEE MEMBERS TO FILL VACANCIES ON THE YOUTH COUNCIL COMMITTEE, AND PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE.

BACKGROUND
At the June 18, 2014 Town Council Meeting, Council Member Bell provided the report of the Youth Council Committee. The Town Council then voted to extend the Youth Council.
Some of the students were unable or unwilling to continue on the Committee which created vacancies - Vice Mayor Sochin (2) and Council Member Bell (1). In addition, the school appointed student position was also vacant.
In accordance with Town Ordinance #10-08, vacancies on the Youth Council were posted on the Town's website for more than two weeks. Four applications were received for three Town Council appointed vacancies. The resumes of the applicants were furnished to both Vice Mayor Sochin and Council Member Bell for their consideration. Dr. Justin Koren, Lead Teacher, Senior High School, Curriculum and Magnet Programs provided the resume of the student appointment to the Committee. The resumes of the requested appointments are attached to the proposed resolution.
RECOMMENDATION
It is recommended that the Town Council approve the attached resolution appointing students to the Youth Council Committee.
